Shilinia and Jade simply wanted everything at their wedding to be “breathtaking” for both them, and their guests. They wanted a venue with a magnificent view of Johannesburg at night and we knew just the place! Read on to understand how we developed their desires, dreams and wishes and turned them into a reality…
Shilinia and Jade were introduced by a cousin one evening at an event in Newtown. They didn’t really speak that evening. However, they did start texting each other, and that’s how everything started. Their wedding date was set for 6th December 2014 and Shilinia shared their experiences with us:
“We both wanted a venue with a magnificent view of Johannesburg at night. As soon as Marius took us to see Glenshiel with its exquisite gardens, as well as the view from the Hope School in Westcliff, we knew we’d found that perfect spot. Glenshiel is a simply stunning venue with the most picturesque scenery. We wanted the venue to be breathtakingly beautiful and, judging by the comments we received from guests, it seems we achieved that as the venue certainly took their breath away.
The proceedings started off with the ceremony in the garden with Loyiso performing Made To Love Ya by Gerald Levert. The weather was perfect for the ceremony and pre-drinks, and the garden looked absolutely gorgeous. It is said that rain on a wedding day signifies good luck and we were blessed with rain later that evening, yet no one was fazed and everyone still had a great time. We then enjoyed chilled drinks and tasty canapés while being treated to the sounds of Chilli & Lime.
We then moved on to the reception at the Hope School field. As our guests took their seats Marius took the two of us aside for a five-minute breather to reflect on the day, and we found that gesture extremely thoughtful.”
Shilinia also let us in on her most special moment: “All morning I had been looking forward to seeing Jade and saying our I dos. As I was walking towards him, I was overcome by the most overwhelming feeling of happiness and couldn’t stop smiling. We have been dating for six years and to be able to stand next to Jade and call him my husband was truly amazing.” Jade just couldn’t stop smiling when he turned around and saw Shilinia for the very first time.
“Our wedding was just AMAZING! It was everything we had hoped it would be – stylish and elegant, yet very relaxed. Every single guest had a blast and, until today, our friends and family who attended are still speaking about our wedding. If only I could stop the hands of time; it went by too quickly.”
